The main products in the soldering industry are solder paste, tin wire, and tin bar. The main raw material for soldering is tin. When the weather is low, the crystal form of tin will be changed, making tin brittle. At present, we All electronic products used have minimum and maximum operating temperatures, so tin is no exception. What impact does the change of weather and temperature have on soldering tin? I have collected some information for you to organize as follows:
1. Influence of low temperature and humid weather on solder wire welding:
1. On the one hand, welding is carried out at low temperature. Due to the low temperature of the welding environment, the temperature gradient between the welding heat-affected zone and the welding base metal is increased, which will lead to an increase in the cooling rate of the heat-affected zone.
2. Solder wire (tin wire) or circuit boards and welding tools are damp due to improper storage. When solder wire is manually soldered, due to high humidity, it will explode tin, which will cause intermittent tin explosion or poor soldering tin, etc. The phenomenon of fried tin is very common in the soldering process of solder wire. The so-called fried tin refers to the volatilization of the solvent in the flux on the welding material, causing the board surface to cool down, and the air in contact with it is condensed to form a fog that condenses on the board. On the surface, the instantaneous high temperature during soldering causes the water to evaporate and diffuse rapidly. If the board surface does not have a suitable angle for the vapor to diffuse, it will rapidly push the solder and form fried tin. To put it simply, there is a lot of moisture in the air, so that the welding materials or tools are damp. When the solder encounters high temperature during welding, it will produce gas and fry the tin. When encountering this phenomenon, we must pay special attention to the storage environment and working environment of the flux or welding consumables, and keep it dry, so as to avoid tin frying due to moisture.
3. When the external air temperature is too low during soldering, the preheating time will be slightly longer. If the preheating time does not reach the soldering temperature, or the preheating time is too short and the temperature is not enough, the moisture condensed on the board cannot be completely evaporated. When it comes to high-temperature soldering, fried tin will also appear. In addition to the phenomenon of tin blasting caused by the above weather changes, irregular operations, unclean welding consumables, and sweat stains on the hands of operators will also cause tin frying.
4. The temperature of the soldering iron used in soldering is also very important. It must be suitable for the alloy melting point of the solder wire. Phenomenon, the temperature of the welding working environment is also a factor in the consideration rate. The external weather is extremely hot and extremely cold, but it has an impact on soldering, and the physical and mental health of the workers who operate it. Therefore, we must create an environment suitable for welding work according to changes in the weather. It is also very necessary.
Second, the temperature change has a great impact on the solder bar. We all know that the solder bar should be put into the wave furnace to melt into tin water, and the furnace temperature of the operation must meet certain requirements before the product can be welded. The strip should be used together with flux when soldering, but if the temperature is too low or the air is too humid, there will be undesirable phenomena such as tin splashing and soldering voids during soldering.
3. The impact of temperature changes on solder paste: The solder industry knows that the solder paste should be stored in a refrigerator at 2-10 degrees after it is produced. The service life of the unopened solder paste is 6 months. The unopened solder paste is recommended to be 24 Use within hours. The solder paste should not be placed in the sunlight. Before opening the package, the temperature of the solder paste must be raised to the ambient temperature (25±2°C). The temperature recovery time is about 3-4 hours. In order to achieve a good welding effect, the indoor temperature is controlled at about 25°C and the humidity RH30-60% is the best working environment. Solder paste has very strict requirements on ambient temperature and humidity. Changes in the external natural environment such as temperature drop, continuous rainy season, long-term hot and humid weather in the south, and hot summer are very important for solder paste whether it is in storage or in use. Both are unfavorable factors. Too low temperature and low ambient humidity will lead to overdrying of the solder paste, agglomeration, etc., which will affect the performance of the solder paste and some quality problems. Therefore, the operation of the solder paste must comply with the above conditions. To achieve a good welding effect.
To sum up, whether it is high temperature, low temperature, or humid weather, the soldering hazard to solder is very great, but as long as effective measures are taken, the soldering quality can be guaranteed. Solder manufacturing factories not only need to ensure the quality of solder production and personnel training, but also pay attention to weather changes from time to time, adjust the welding process according to changes in weather and temperature, and effectively avoid welding defects.
